JobWise (“JobWise”, “the platform”, “I”, “me”, “my”) is a job management and planning tool for small and micro businesses that provide physical services to customers — currently focused on gas engineers and heating engineers. JobWise is a project of DanTheGas and is owned and operated solely by Daniel Mitchell, a sole trader based in the UK. It's just me — there is no wider company, team or “us”.
When I say “contractor” or “user” I mean the businesses and people who sign up to use JobWise to manage their work. The contractors are my clients — they are the people I provide a service to. When I say “contractor's clients” I mean the end customers whose details a contractor stores and manages in the system; those people are the contractor's customers, not mine.
JobWise is under active development and is provided “as is”, with no guarantee of availability, features or functionality. I'll always try to keep it secure, accurate and online, and I'll fix faults as quickly as I reasonably can — but the platform isn't monitored or developed around the clock, so please don't treat it as your only copy of important information.
In plain terms: I cannot accept liability for system failures, downtime, bugs or any loss that results from them. Keep your own backups of anything you can't afford to lose.
Any eligible business can use JobWise by registering interest and completing onboarding. During onboarding I collect the personal and business information the platform needs to give you secure access.
A decryption key for your business data is generated automatically and stored in the nominated person's profile area. I do not have access to your business data without it, so keep that key safe and regenerate it regularly.
Data you put into JobWise must be kept accurate and handled in line with UK data protection law. As a contractor, you are responsible for the client data you collect and store, and depending on what you collect you may need your own registration with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
I keep communications strictly to what's needed to run the service. I will never use JobWise to send marketing or unrelated messages.
Want to block communications? Anyone can opt out of contact by visiting stop.jobwise.app.
Some features cost me money to provide — things like bulk email, SMS and certain API-based processing. Those costs are passed on to the nominated business contact on a pay-per-use basis, and a deposit may be required before you can use them.
If you close your account while holding a balance, repayment works like this:
| Balance at closure | What's repaid |
|---|---|
| Less than £20 | No repayment available |
| £20.01 – £100 | 80% of the remaining balance |
| More than £100 | 95% of (balance − £30) |
Repayments are made within 5 working days of account closure. The deductions cover payment-processing costs, any fees not yet invoiced, and ongoing development.
There are charges for using certain features (see the premium features above), but right now they're run at cost or below — JobWise isn't making a profit at this stage.
If JobWise is monetised in future, I'll make sure that early adopters are looked after: anyone who works with me during this development stage will always be charged lower-than-published rates, for the life of the service. I'll also announce any change to how charging works well ahead of time so there are no surprises.
I've designed JobWise to be open — you're welcome to connect to your raw data and use it however you like. Just be aware that doing so can affect data integrity and how the platform reads information, and I can't provide support where you've connected separately to your database instance.
JobWise is here to help honest businesses run their day-to-day work. If I believe someone is abusing the system, misusing it, or simply not using it properly — for example harming the platform or other users, attempting to access data they shouldn't, or behaving in a way I'm not comfortable with — I reserve the right to permanently remove that person or business from JobWise, forever, and I do not have to give a reason for doing so. My decision on this is final.
Separately from the above, I reserve the right to remove any business from the platform at any time without giving a reason. Where I close an account in the normal course (rather than for abuse), you'll be given at least 48 hours to download your database and retrieve any remaining data.
To the fullest extent the law allows, JobWise and Daniel Mitchell accept no liability for loss or damage arising from system failures, downtime, faults, data loss, or your use of (or inability to use) the platform. As a small, independent, not-for-profit-at-this-stage project, my liability is strictly limited. Nothing here removes any rights you have that can't legally be excluded.
Short version: your data lives in isolated, encrypted databases on UK-based green hosting. I don't sell it, I don't share it with third parties, and I only contact clients when a contractor tells me to.
You, the contractor (my client): the contractors who sign up are my clients. I hold the personal and business details needed to give your nominated contact secure access and to contact you about critical updates.
Your users: the platform records some personally identifiable data about the individual users within a contractor's business — name, email address, and information about the device(s) and connections used to access JobWise. This helps me provide the service, track bugs, and keep the platform secure. It's only used for internal development and security — never shared with third parties.
The contractor's clients: contractors gather, input and manage their own clients' data inside JobWise. Those clients are the contractor's customers, not mine. As the contractor, you are the data controller for that information; JobWise simply processes it on your behalf, carrying out the tasks you instruct so your business can run. I only ever contact a contractor's client when that contractor instructs the system to.
JobWise uses cookies to track activity so the platform works properly, stays secure, and so I can understand and improve how it's used. I keep cookie use to what the service genuinely needs. If you'd rather limit tracking, you can manage cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the platform may not work correctly without them.
You can ask to see, correct or remove personal data I hold about you, and I'll act on legitimate requests as quickly as I reasonably can, where the law allows.

I'm a small operation doing my best to protect your data with sensible, modern security. I can't promise perfection, and I can't accept liability for system failures — but I take privacy seriously and I'll always be straight with you about what I do.
